Farm Shop Manager Job Description
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and effectively. This role involves managing both inventory, staff, customers and artists. This includes inventory of produce, meat, product, artists, and customer care, implementing best practices and care, and hiring maintaining and supervising staff. Operating and inventory items within POS. The ideal candidate must possess a strong background in customer service and management, with knowledge of produce, and or excitement to learn about produce. The manager is expected to lead by example with shop work, stocking, shop care and other hands on tasks alongside the team, encompassing a large portion of weekly hours. Customer service may be in person and basic social media customer response.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shop Operations Management
-Oversee and participate in the daily operations of the farm shop.
-Manage product and produce care, ensuring proper handling of produce, stocking of all product.
-Supervise and higher as needed shop staff, providing training and guidance to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and staff assigned tasks.
-Maintain sales numbers
-Website duties
-Maintain vendor and artist relationships
-Maintain equipment and tools used in the shop, ensuring they are in good working condition and other items are stocked accordingly. Bags and office supplies.
-Implement best practices for daily shop operations and customer care.
-Recruit, approve and manage artists.
-Maintain accurate records of shop activities, including staff schedules, market event schedules and signups, meat records, and equipment maintenance and cooler logs.
2. Team Leadership
-Supervise, train, and schedule a team of 2-6 staff depending on season
-Delegate tasks effectively and provide ongoing feedback to optimize performance.
-Manage staff reviews and relationships.
-Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Managers are expected to lead by example, being out on the shop floor and working alongside team members doing all shop aspects.
3. Farmers wife basket Program
-Coordinate monthly subscription farm basket assembly and distribution.
-Ensure accurate tracking of produce, packaging, and delivery logistics.
4. Sales and Partnerships
-Set up and Manage relationships with local retail and fulfill orders.
-Represent the farm at farmers markets, ensuring consistent product quality and excellent customer service.
5. Guest Services
-Oversee class sign ups including site preparation and oversee, cleanup and guest communication.
-Maintain cleanliness and functionality of facilities.
-Maintain class schedule
-Maintain sales numbers
6. Administrative Duties
-Answer phone calls, texts and emails with fantastic customer service
-Monitor and track inventory, budgets, and key performance indicators.
-Implement and maintain record-keeping systems for shop items, artists and sales.
-Collaborate with the farm owner on strategic planning and goal setting.
-Order and maintain materials needed to keep on track with shop needs, bags, cleaning equipment, decorations and maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
-Proven experience in management, preferably with small animal/farming practices, grocery and or boutique.
-Strong leadership and communication skills.
-Proficiency in produce, and people management.
-Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and adapt to changing priorities.
-Knowledge of sales, marketing, and guest services is a plus.
-Light management of social media
-Effective communication and working with other managers and owners
-This is for someone who is wanting to work hard be compensated to do so with a long-term relationship
Compensation Package
$15-$17 per hour starting depending on experience plus sales commission and team sales incentives. (This can be easily $5-$8 more a hour, with no cap) With quarterly review.

Farmers Market Crew
Farmers Market Crew – Part time – Year Round – Long Term
Options for this to also be part of an additional position depending on candidates availability – this can be discussed on an individual basis.
Job description: The Farmers Market Crew is responsible for attending our Farmers Market in either Pawlies Island and or Myrtle Beach and other area locations. Farmers Market Crew reports directly to both the manager and the owner. We are happy to train the right person with the right attitude. The Farmers Market Crew must have reliable transportation and a vehicle large enough (SUV, minivan OR Truck) to have market tent, tables, coolers and market set up items. The ideal candidate would live nearby the shop (in Surfside) to make loading and unloading quick and easy and to reduce drive time. Possible dropping of deliveries in areas of markets in addition to market trip.
The Farmers Market Crew has the following qualities: strong people skills, very friendly and excited to be outside chatting with folks at a market, a desire to answer questions and explain and talk about the farm (sometimes over and over and over again in the same 3-4 hours span). This person will have or at least get and maintain a clean facebook page. This person should be interested in interacting with customers and not be someone who is just wanting to hang out on their cell phone as potential customers walk by. This person should be able to stand for extended periods of time. This person should also be able to use a POS system and track cash and credit card sales in a potential extreme fast paced sales setting with a smile and be responsible with making change. This person should dress and present themselves with professionalism as they are the direct face of the farm when we are out at market. This person should have an eye for detail and be able to set up an appealing market booth and keep it stocked and tidy throughout the market. They should also be highly organized and be able to handle pre order pick ups and customers at the booth shopping at the same time. This person must be able to lift at least 50lbs and to be able to load and unload market set up materials and totes and coolers and bags for pre orders.
Who would thrive in this position? Someone that loves being outside and talking with people about meat and vegetables and our farm, no matter the elements… farmers markets happen rain or shine.
What are the hours like: Depending on market schedules, year round. Farmers Market Crew reports to the shop around 7am to load up and be ready to leave for market at 8am, drives to the market, sets up, breaks down and returns to the shop and unload. Depending on the market finish time, hours can vary from 1pm to 2pm. (This is subject to individual markets) Everyone is responsible for tracking their own hours and submitting them, hours are however cross checked with cameras on the shop.
